Refractive Error

Refractive Error is due to changes in your eye, it may cause light to be unfocused so there is blurry vision. Common conditions from these are Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism, Presbyopia.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is when the pressure in the eye begins to cause optic nerve damage. This can lead to loss of peripheral vision.

Cataract

Cataract is the clouding of the lens and there will be blurry or colour-tinted vision. One may observe “haloes” surrounding objects which they look at, especially at night.

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

AMD is where there is progressive damage to the cells of the macular. This is common for people aged over 60 years old. Symptoms of this condition includes blurry vision.

Amblyopia

Amblyopia is also known as “lazy eye” where one’s vision has not properly developed in the eye. This symptom causes the brain to favour the eye with better vision. This condition occurs when one of the eyes is being blocked from clear images during critical years of development. Such problems include uncorrected refractive error, lid droop, etc.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)

DR is when there is damage to blood vessels of the retina caused by diabetes. Symptoms include blurred or dark spots in field of vision which may result in blindness.

Retinal Detachment or Tear

Retinal Detachment or Tear happens when the retina separates from the back of the eye. Symptoms include blurry or obscured vision, flashes and floaters and may result in partial or complete loss in vision.

Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry Eye Syndrome develops when one has a lack of tears. It often results from a problem with the tear ducts, tear production or eyelids. This condition could also be a side effect of certain medications. Symptoms include pain and blurry vision.
